Black and White Cat Necklace in Sterling Silver and Enamel

This sterling silver and enamel necklace measures about 3/4 of an inch tall and hangs from a 16 - 20 inch adjustable sterling silver chain with a spring ring clasp.

I carved the sterling silver setting from a block of wax, then cast that wax pendant into metal and molded it so I can make multiples. The setting then gets a layer of vitreous enamel (fine glass) and fired at 1400 degrees in a kiln, four separate times, to build strength and color saturation . Finally I take an illustration from my sketchbook, turn it into an enamel screen print, and fire that on the top for a durable, waterproof and vibrant finish. So many steps.
