Blue Axolotl Earrings in Sterling Silver and Vitreous Enamel

An adorable Axolotl peeking through a heart shaped window.

The earring charm is 3/4 of an inch tall or 1 plus inch with the ear wire drop.

I carved the sterling silver setting from a block of wax, then cast that wax pendant into metal and molded it so I can make multiples. The setting then gets a layer of vitreous enamel (fine glass) and fired at 1400 degrees in a kiln, four separate times, to build strength and color saturation . Finally I take an illustration from my sketchbook, turn it into an enamel screen print, and fire that on the top for a durable, waterproof and vibrant finish. So many steps.
