Reversible Oval Lucky Horse Necklace - Sterling Silver and Enamel Horse Pendant on Adjustable Chain

This tiny oval pendant is so sweet. Featuring a bashful horse with a flower in its mouth on one side, and a lucky horse shoe on the other, the face of this pendant is 3/4 of an inch tall and 7/16ths of an inch wide. It comes on a sterling silver chain that is adjustable between 16 and 20 inches. 

I carved this pendant setting from a block of wax, then cast that wax ring into metal and molded it so I can make multiples. The inset then gets layers of vitreous enamel (fine glass) on both sides fired at 1400 degrees in a kiln, three separate times, to build strength and color saturation . Finally I take an illustration from my sketchbook, turn it into an enamel screen print, and fire that on the top for a durable, waterproof and vibrant finish. So many steps to make a lasting treasure.
