Very Good Dog Enamel Necklace - Sterling Silver and Enamel Pendant on Adjustable Chain

Talk about sitting pretty. This good dog sits on a pale periwinkle enamel background in a sterling silver setting. It measures 3/4 of an inch tall and about 5/8 of an inch across. It comes on an adjustable 16-20" sterling silver chain.

I carved the sterling silver setting from a block of wax, then cast that wax pendant into metal and molded it so I can make multiples. The setting then gets a layer of vitreous enamel (fine glass) and fired at 1400 degrees in a kiln, four separate times, to build strength and color saturation . Finally I take an illustration from my sketchbook, turn it into an enamel screen print, and fire that on the top for a durable, waterproof and vibrant finish. So many steps.
